Save the Date. Save the Ocean.
The 5th annual SOS Ocean Conservation Day event returns to Fort Lauderdale Beach on Sunday, April 24, 2022 from 10am to 4pm.
As the owner of Stoked On Salt - aka ‘SOS’- ocean conservation gear and founder of our volunteer group 'SOS Ocean Clean Up' in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, I wanted to share with you a fun way to contribute to the preservation of our beautiful ocean, beaches and living coral reefs that identify the special place where we live.
Now in its 5th year, the SOS Ocean Conservation Day sponsored by Tortuga Music Festival & Rock The Ocean is returning to Las Olas Oceanside Park on A1A and Fort Lauderdale Beach, 10am to 4pm. This free, outdoor event is not only fun, but an educational program for the entire family that will help bring awareness to our ocean. We are so thankful to have the support of Tortuga Music Festival and Rock The Ocean. This partnership will help embrace our mission regarding ocean conservation issues here in South Florida.
We are excited to announce this year's event will be PLASTIC-FREE. We encourage all event goers to bring their own ocean-friendly drink ware to help continue the ongoing mission to ban plastic in our community. The SOS Mission this year: LETTUCE GIVE THANKS
Event to benefit the sea turtle feedings at the Marine Environmental Education Center at the Carpenter House - MEEC There will be a silent auction during the event. 100% of proceeds will benefit the organization.
Keep an eye out for the colorful SOS Debris Art Donation Boxes under each non-profits tent. 100% of the donations will go to the group(s) you would like to support to help them continue their efforts here in South Florida.
"Many people are not aware of the ocean’s influence on us and our influence on the ocean and I wanted to do something that was inspiring for a younger generation because they’re the ones in line to inherit all these issues.” - founder of SOS Ocean Conservation Day, Lisa Miceli-Capano.
Within the SOS Ocean Conservation area, ocean/marine conservation groups will engage in outreach with the general public about issues that could be addressed on a local level which we so desperately need: corals - manatees - lionfish - ocean debris - sharks - sea turtles - manta rays - lobstering - water quality - wildlife rescue - mangroves - fishing regulations - ocean safety and more.
